The color experts over at Pantone have announced Honeysuckle as the color of the year for 2011!

The experts say that this encouraging, uplifting color “emboldens us to face everyday troubles with verve and vigor.”  According to PANTONE executive director Leatrice Eiseman,Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going—perfect to ward off the blues,.”.

Happy Valentine’s Day

City of Hearts by YourWillingSkin

It’s the heart afraid of breaking
that never learns to dance.

It’s the dream afraid of waking
that never takes the chance.
It’s the one who won’t be taken
who cannot seem to give,
A
nd the soul afraid of dying
that never learns to live.

The color experts over at Pantone have announced Turquoise as the color of the year for 2010!

The experts say that this inviting, invigorating color “evokes thoughts of soothing, tropical waters and a languorous, effective escape from the everyday troubles of the world, while at the same time restoring our sense of well being.”

Turquoise is on the rise in fashion and home decor trends, and I’m quite excited about it.  Turquoise, with its warm and cool undertones, is a color that flatters many and can complement a variety of styles and tastes.  Plus, I have a stash of turquoise and turquoise-colored stones (amazonite, kyanite, aquamarine, just to name a few…) just waiting to be incorporated into jewelry designs for spring and summer!

Here are a few Turquoise designs from my shop.  Be on the lookout – I’ll be adding new items to my shop this week and next!

Other colors to look out for this spring include tomato red, coral, violet, yellow, blue, champagne, dried herb green, and eucalyptus.  What a palate to play with!

Year’s end is neither an end
nor a beginning but a going on,
with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us.

In the bleak midwinter, frost wind made moan,
earth stood hard as iron, water like a stone;
snow had fallen, snow on snow, snow on snow,
in the bleak midwinter, long ago.

Our God, heaven cannot hold him, nor earth sustain;
heaven and earth shall flee away when he comes to reign.
In the bleak midwinter a stable place sufficed
the Lord God Almighty, Jesus Christ.

Angels and archangels may have gathered there,
cherubim and seraphim thronged the air;
but his mother only, in her maiden bliss,
worshiped the beloved with a kiss.

What can I give him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
if I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;
yet what I can I give him: give my heart.

As Summer into Autumn slips
And yet we sooner say
“The Summer” than “the Autumn,” lest
We turn the sun away,
And almost count it an Affront
The presence to concede
Of one however lovely, not
The one that we have loved —

So we evade the charge of Years
On one attempting shy
The Circumvention of the Shaft
Of Life’s Declivity.

“Leisure is a form of silence, not noiselessness. It is the silence of contemplation such as occurs when we let our minds rest on a rosebud, a child at play, a Divine mystery, or a waterfall.”
